I certainly have my own theories, however I believe most business managers/owners need to answer this question so that they can prioritize their execution plan. It is important to recognize the areas of your business that need help now. If you don’t, you will miss the opportunity to grow your business. Who can afford that in this economy?

This week, GRS Group launched a new brand strategy, starting with a new website: http://www.grs-global.com/. The look and feel is clean and sophisticated. The company, globally recognized is on the forefront of commercial real estate services leaves an elegant impression.

Refresh Marketing Group successfully launches: http://www.pasadenacyberknife.com/ for the opening of the new Pasadena Cyberknife Center in Pasadena, California. The website features educational videos and resources for patients and doctors. The idea behind the branding was to promote the exciting new Cyberknife technology while promoting their high level of patient care. The slogan ‘leading the way to wellness’ is a great way to leverage both assets of the center.

In order to sell to your customer, it is important that you understand them. However, it is more important that you understand yourself.  Are you in the same demographic as your target audience? Are you mixing your likes or dislikes with your own personal tastes and not that of your customers?

The key to successfully building long term relationships with your customers is to step inside their shoes. This can be a huge paradigm shift for many – but in the end it is one worth taking.

Yes, generally they should have the same look and feel. However, keep in mind the web is a dynamic space.  Since the website is dynamic and flexible, each should be customized for used based on the usage. A brochure should contain information that is timeless and informative. The look and feel of a brochure should be minimalistic and timeless. A well created brochure should be used as a discussion piece to support the sale.

Whereas, the main goal of a website is to ensure the information on the website is fresh and reflects a companies knowledge of the industry. It is important that you include articles and case studies that are more rich and evolving – reinforcing your professional knowledge of the industry.

During the website planning phase a company has 2 design options:

  • Less content on home page means more white space a brochure feel. Clean and minimalist.
  • More content on home page means that you are addressing more topics for the various types of readers.

I recommend the second option because it addresses the ’30 seconds rule’ – you basically have 30 seconds to get a reader’s attention. Adding more content means you are more likely to target various interests. Additionally, more content positions you and your company as a valuable resource.
